Gameplay
An evolution in classic role playing games
Gameplay Highlights: Imagine playing one of the lead characters in a Fantasy Novel. Mortal Existence is a game that requires collaboration with other characters (players) to achieve the ultimate goals of Power, Wealth, Honor and Legend!
The vast fantasy world of Mortal Existence offers many opportunities for adventure and stories in a fantasy realm that is sated with peril, magic, monsters and mystical creatures and beings of many kinds.
Gameplay requires a thoughtful mind and involves problem solving, collaborating with companion characters (players) to complete adventures, the luck of the dice, and engaging in battles, the crux of the game! As characters advance through the game, they will gain Mortal Existence Skill to achieve increases in rank; gaining strength, knowledge, power and abilities.
Mortal Existence offers players the opportunity to go as deep as they choose into their characters and The Mortal Realms. If a player is able to keep his or her character alive in the game, the player may be able to play that character for many, many years, experiencing countless adventures.
The table top fantasy role playing game Mortal Existence is an adventure game based on percentile dice, but also uses a number of other dice: d4, d6, d8, d12, d20 and d30.
Players will have the opportunity of playing many unique character races and guilds:
The races include the Human, by which all other races are measured; the small and often mischievous Werlarrow (or Halfling); the proud and powerful Dwarf; the Gnome, a legendary underground dweller; the nearly-celestial Elf, with its three sub-groups, the Fetterines, the Willows and the Veiths; the Giant, a mighty race of overgrown Humans; the agile and formidable Half-Ape; and the savage and disreputable Half-Grunt, a chimera of Human and Grunt beings.
The guilds include: the powerful hand-to-hand combat expert, the Warrior with its many Clades; the feared and respected Magician; the under-worldly Thief with its Skills of Mastery; the revered Healer, each trained within a unique Order; the long range expert, the Bowman; the Tracker, a skilled woodsman; the Alchemist with an uncanny knowledge of mingling elements to make unusual creations; and the Madjrikess, the inimitable female character with unique auras and powers.
About the creator of Mortal Existence: Erik Ney (Game Designer and Musician). I am the game creator and designer of Mortal Existence, and I would say that it is part of who I am. This game has been a measure of my life since I was twelve years old. In fact, some of the monsters in the current game I developed at that age. They have since changed through the years to conform to the rules of the game as they developed, but nonetheless, their concepts were designed at that time. The idea for Mortal Existence was sparked by Tolkien’s brilliant creations, of course, but also from playing other role playing games. When I was 12 years old, I played Dungeons and Dragons for the first time, and I was hooked. After playing D&D for a while, I thought, “I can do this and make it my own.” For years my brother, my many friends and I have played the game, making countless memories and just having a great time being together. So now, after 40+ years and many revisions, rule changes and much development, I have decided to release Mortal Existence to the public. I hope that everyone who plays it enjoys it as much as we have, and creates fun and lasting memories of their own.
Consultants: I rely on my brother, Jeff, my wife, Sherri, and a number of friends and consultants for feedback and ideas. They have helped me to hone the game into the deep and exciting game that it is today. I always enjoy listening to the ideas of the players and sometimes incorporating these ideas into the game.
